Renovation
of the historical Mann building into a mixed-use
project was started in November 1999. The Wild Ginger restaurant moved
from its location on Western Avenue into the first two floors.
Commercial and restaurant offices were located on the third floor. On
the rooftop, a fully functional, working greenhouse was installed to
provide exotic herbs and edible plants for the restaurant.
This is the first of its kind in downtown Seattle and reinforces The
Wild Ginger’s reputation as a world-class eating destination. The last
part of Phase 1 will create temporary parking in the basement.
The
project was completed in two phases. Phase 1 created temporary
parking in the basement along with
the restaurant and offices. Phase 2 converted the 2 level basement
parking space into a state-of-the-art theatre and musical performance
club, called the Triple Door, with dressing rooms being added to the
third floor.
barrientos
was hired by the owners to
assist in managing the development of the project. During construction,
barrientos
served as the owner’s rep,
coordinating all aspects of the project (RFI’s, submittals and budget)
with the architect and general contractor.
