barrientos provided consulltant
services for the reconstruction of an existing performing arts theater.
The Village Theatre building was constructed in 1913 without a
supporting foundation or concrete floor slab. The reconstruction
includes a flat floor equipped with new “telescoping” seating
retracting to the back wall, thereby making the space multi-functional
for classes, rehearsals, and special events. This new configuration
will also allow Village Theatre to offer cabaret theater with table
seating.
The new 8,200 sq. ft. building will utilize refurbished
elements taken from the existing facade, including the neon blade sign
and cornice. The lobby and gallery public areas will feature finished
millwork elements constructed from old-growth fir framing lumber
salvaged from the demolition of the existing building. The project
acheived LEED Silver Certification. |
