Central Youth and Family Services (CYFS) is an agency which provides greatly needed counseling and intervention services for at-risk juveniles in the Central Area of Seattle. Some of their programs include the prevention of high school dropout, gang intervention, substance abuse counseling, and overall family counseling.

Maria Barrientos served as the Owner’s Representative during the development and construction of the CYFS new home. Maria was hired to manage coordination between the Architect and general contractor, the development budget and to help CYFS through the decision-making process. Maria was instrumental in obtaining 20% of the funding through a private loan guaranteed by the Local Initiative Support Corporation (LISC). Maria later served on the Board of Directors for several years and as Board Chair for two years.
