This project was developed as a
35-unit acute-care licensed facility for people coping with HIV/AIDS.
AIDS Housing of Washington (AHW) was the owner and developer of the
property and Betsy Lieberman is the Executive Director of this agency.
This was the first project of its kind to be built in this country, and
because of this it was a challenge to complete. There were over 45
funding sources, with over six of them public sources.
Maria Barrientos served as the Project
Manager and provided a full range of services for AHW. She provided
support for securing funds from public and private sources, managed the
architect and contractor, the design process and construction
administration. Throughout, Maria worked in concert with AHW, city,
county, state and federal government funding agencies, community
groups, bankers and private contributors to bring this much needed
facility from concept to reality.
